North Coast Hot Jobs Dec. 29

Hello fellow job seekers. Here is the link to this week's North Coast Hot Jobs listing, https://www.scribd.com/doc/251183975/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-Dec-29-2014

I am not going to post too much today. I am concentrating on my own job search.

According to the November 2014 unemployment rates in this state, Washington state overall has an unemployment rate of 6.0%. Clallam county has 8.9%, Jefferson county 8.1%, Kitsap county 6.2%, Island county 7.4%, King county 4.4%, Snohomish county 4.8% and Pierce county 7.3%. More info here, https://fortress.wa.gov/esd/employmentdata/reports-publications/economic-reports/monthly-employment-report/map-of-county-unemployment-rates

I have been reading that the latest reports on the economy indicate that it is the strongest since 2004. So, hopefully more hiring will be done at the start of the upcoming year.

That's all for now. I hope everyone has a prosperous new year. Have a good one.

I added to the instructions on the first page of the job's listing that I don't post physical therapist type jobs. This is because of the following reason: There is no schooling in the area for this type of job. Although this website has been accessed by those outside the area, it is primarily for those that live here already. Therefore, there is possibly no out of work physical therapists living on the north coast of the Olympic Peninsula. So, why post those jobs? Now, if there was education for that type of high demand job in the area.............

Sorry for not updating the Job Hunting Tips and Weekly Featured Jobs pages. Since I have been unemployed, my heart has just not been into it.

So, big football game tonight. I have to get some job applications out before I set down to watch it. Have a good one and I hope you were able to scrape enough together to have a Merry Christmas.

As you may have read in the Peninsula Daily News, Nippon Industries will be having layoffs. They intend to layoff between 21 and 28 workers. This will affect the city of Port Angeles employment picture. The city will have less taxable revenue to provide government jobs. So, Nippon's decision will have a ripple effect on other organizations. More info here, http://www.peninsuladailynews.com/article/20141210/NEWS/312109985/21-to-28-employee-layoffs-expected-at-port-angeles-nippon-mill

Keep an eye out for the soon to be released state budget by Governor Inslee. This would have an effect on state jobs in the area.

Here is a list of employers that have a lot of hiring to do;

1) Westport Yachts. 17 job openings.
2) Olympic Medical Center. 8 job openings.
3) Safeway (various local locations). 8 job openings.
4) Lower Elwha nation. 9 job openings.

That's all for this week. Have to watch a football game. Go Seahawks!

Have a good one.

Hello fellow job seekers. Here is the link to this week's North Coast Hot Jobs listing, https://www.scribd.com/doc/249436757/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-Dec-8-2014

I was notified that there is an upcoming job fair in Bremerton. Many jobs over there. Anyways, here is the link for more info, http://www.wamilitary.com/wednesday-wisdom-upcoming-job-fairs-veterans-military/.

Job Fairs help bring a large potential employee base to the attention of employers. When I was with WorkSource Clallam, we used to have job fairs once a month. Now, there is no job fairs in this area. There was one WorkSource Specialist that produced these job fairs here and I used to assist with all of them. I had become experienced in the system that she had developed.

Ok, the Sunday football game against Philadelphia is coming up soon, so that is all I have for now.

Have a good one and good luck with your job hunting.

North Coast Hot Jobs Dec. 1

Hello fellow job seekers. Here is the link to this week's North Coast Hot Jobs listing.https://www.scribd.com/doc/248656375/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-Dec-1-2014

So, we recently had some snowfall in the area. The forecast calls for below freezing temperatures for part of the rest of the week. This could lead to slippery road conditions, such as frost and/or black ice. I have lived in cold weather climates such as Minnesota, Eastern Washington and Alaska. People there are familiar with how to drive under these conditions. People here are not accustomed to driving on slippery roads, so they tend to not drive carefully. So, in this location when the temperatures drop below freezing you have to be aware of the road conditions and also how others are driving.

To those of you who are not experienced driving on slippery roads, here are some tips. Remember that four wheel drive does not give you permission to drive like normal. It is still difficult to slow down. Keep adequate room between your vehicle and the one ahead of you. Slow down ahead of time when coming to a stop sign or red light. Accelerate gradually. Do not make any jerky movements. Keep all windows clean (no peephole driving).

That's all for this week. Have a good one.

Hello fellow job seekers. Here is the link to this week's North Coast Hot Jobs listing, https://www.scribd.com/doc/247945946/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-Nov-24-2014

So, I hope everyone has recovered from our annual cold snap. Before winter officially starts here, the temperature dips way below normal for a few days. It is back to normal though, but the temperatures will gradually begin to get lower.

Thanksgiving holiday is coming up. In some cases, offices will be closed this Friday. Also, some places will be closed on Thanksgiving as well. So, plan accordingly.

On the job front, the following organizations have many jobs open; Westport Shipyard, Olympic Medical Center and Home Depot. See the North Coast Hot Jobs listing for more info.

Ok, that is all for this week. Have a Happy Thanksgiving. And for all those who are unemployed, hopefully organizations in this area will hire you soon. Hire me also.

Have a good one.

For those of you in unemployment land, do not be discouraged. I keep telling others that employers will eventually run out of networked connections to hire and will select me.

I have submitted many job applications this year. For example, since January this year, I have applied for 16 jobs at the local hospital and 10 jobs at the local community college. I have had no interviews at the hospital and one at the college.

Ok, I have stuff to do so I can't spend too much time here this week. Have a good one.

Angeles Composite Technologies, Inc. is hiring. They use WorkSource Clallam for the first step in their hiring process. So, go down to WorkSource Clallam at 228 West First St (Armory Square Mall) in Port Angeles and ask about ACTI. They will possibly have you get enrolled in KeyTrain assessment tools to gauge your potential to do their type of work. You can find out more info on ACTI at their website here, http://www.angelescomposite.com/

Still many, many jobs open at Westport Yachts. Go here for more info, http://www.westportyachts.com/careers/

Personally, I don't want anyone's thanks for serving in the military. I just want a job.

Ok, that's all for this week. Have a good veterans day week.

I hope everyone reset all their clocks. One that a lot of people forget is the clock in your vehicle. Then, you have to find the manual because it's been six months since you changed the time last.

The Olympic Medical Center has four new jobs this week. Here is their hyperlink, http://www.olympicmedical.org/default.aspx?ID=16. They ask that you fill out their application and email this along with other documents. For your information, their human resources department is busy, so they rarely acknowledge they received your email. Also, if you do not hear from someone there soon, then do not expect a response. They also rarely let you know if you were not selected.

Office Depot has added two new jobs. They now have a total of eight jobs open. Just remember when you apply for this type of job, the emphasis is on sell, sell, sell.

Okay, that is all for this week. Have a good one.

North Coast Hot Jobs Oct. 27

Hello fellow job seekers. Why yes, I am still unemployed. Sometimes I think I am better at finding jobs for everyone else than I am for finding a job for myself. Anyways, here is the link to this week's North Coast Hot Jobs listing, https://www.scribd.com/doc/244522612/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-Oct-27-2014

Some organizations are beginning their holiday season hiring. WalMart is for one. So, apply there now.

Westport Shipyard has added five jobs this week. They now have seventeen job openings.

Go Wireless opened four more jobs this week for a total of five job openings.

The Quileute Tribe has six more job openings this week out at Lapush.

That's all for this week. Have a good one.

North Coast Hot Jobs Oct. 20

Hello fellow job seekers. Here is the latest North Coast Hot Jobs listing, https://www.scribd.com/doc/243577631/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-Oct-20-2014

First of all, let me point out that this site's audience has grown bigger than I had anticipated. Therefore, I will continue to publish it. For the time being anyways.

Let's start off by pointing out some organizations that have some job activity. Westport Shipyard in Port Angeles currently has twelve jobs open. Those of you who worked there might consider reapplying. However, I know that some have moved on to other things.

Home Depot in Sequim still has those eight jobs posted that opened a few weeks ago. Apparently, they have an interest in hiring vets, if that is your background.

Office Depot in Sequim has posted four new jobs this week. A logistics associate, a retail management sales lead, a retail sales associate and a sales consultant print services.

There are ten para-educator job openings in the area. Three in Port Angeles, four in Port Townsend, one in Brinnon and two in Sequim. Check their respective school districts for more info.

Review the Job Hunting Tips and Featured Jobs pages in the right column for other useful information.

That's all for this week. Have a good one.

North Coast Hot Jobs Oct. 13

Hello fellow job seekers. Here is the latest North Coast Hot Jobs listing, https://www.scribd.com/doc/242761288/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-Oct-13-2014

As some of you may know, I maintain this site on my own time. An unpaid public service. It takes me between four and six hours each week. I know it has been beneficial to many others, but lately I have been wondering if it is worth my time.

I constructed this listing two years ago, before I was with WorkSource. Since my term of service expired there, I have been trying to get back into the employment field. I was with a non-profit agency for a few months in this same field. I have been unemployed for the last two months. Laid off. My recent attempts to get employed with WorkFirst, Workforce or other work related jobs at WorkSource, DSHS, the local college or employment agencies have been unfruitful. It has become very difficult for me to continue looking for jobs for others when I can't even find a job for myself. As a result, this will possibly be the last North Coast Hot Jobs listing I post. At least until I get employed.

One thing that is ironic is that I know that people in the employment field use this site to increase their knowledge. I have been an unemployed person helping employment specialists find work for others.

Contact Mike McEvoy at WorkSource Clallam if you think I should continue this jobs listing. He is at 360-457-2103. Have a good one.

North Coast Hot Jobs Oct. 6

Hello fellow job seekers. Here is the link to the latest North Coast Hot Jobs listing, https://www.scribd.com/doc/241904087/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-Oct-6-2014

Well, here we are in October. Temperatures are beginning to get lower. One topic this year has been if we will have an El Nino weather event this year. The weather forecasters are not in agreement as to the severity of this event or even if it will happen at all. You can google "El Nino" to read different articles on it. Here are a couple of links with different views on El Nino this year. Here, http://www.liveweatherblogs.com/index.php/community/groups/viewdiscussion/215-el-el-nino-watch-update-2014-2015-it-could-be-big-real-big?groupid=6 and here, http://www.nytimes.com/2014/09/10/science/earth/el-nino-california-drought.html?_r=0

What the El Nino means in this area is usually a mild winter. Most of our bad weather would hit Northern California, where they desperately need it.

Now, let's change the subject. The Clallam County Economic Development Council recently made a few comments in the Peninsula Daily News. They basically stated what they have been doing and what kind of economic development is possible in the area. Here is the link to this article, http://www.peninsuladailynews.com/article/20141003/NEWS/310039967/0/SEARCH

Have a good one and good luck with your job hunting.

North Coast Hot Jobs Sep. 29

Hello again fellow job seekers. Here is the link to this week's North Coast Hot Jobs listing, http://www.scribd.com/doc/241187525/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-Sep-29-2014

Well, welcome to the Fall of 2014 everyone. What this means from an employment standpoint is that seasonal jobs will start to go away. As a result, unemployment could inch up if new employment opportunities don't become available.

So, this week let's discuss the August unemployment rates in Washington state. Here's the rundown for counties in our area.

1) Clallam County 7.0%
2) Jefferson County 6.5%
3) Island County 6.1%
4) Kitsap County 5.3%
5) Snohomish County 5.4%
6) King 4.9%
7) Pierce County 6.1%

Statewide unemployment is 5.6%, which is pretty good. For more info on this subject, go to https://fortress.wa.gov/esd/employmentdata/reports-publications/economic-reports/monthly-employment-report/map-of-county-unemployment-rates

Have a good one.

Hello fellow job seekers. Here is the link to this week's North Coast Hot Jobs listing, http://www.scribd.com/doc/240468190/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-Sep-22-2014

Well, September 23 will be the first day of Fall. Hope you enjoyed your summer. Temperatures will be going down soon. Some people who had summer based jobs, such as landscaping, will be going into hibernation. They work hard in the summer to pay for their winter work slow times.

The jobs website for the Olympic Rehab of Sequim did not show any jobs last week. Don't know if this was a technical issue. Anyways, they have jobs posted this week here, http://www.avamereolympicrehabofsequim.com. These jobs are also listed in the North Coast Hot Jobs listing.

Be sure to check out the Job Hunting Tips and Weekly Featured Jobs pages in the right column of this page.

That's all for this week. Have a good one.

North Coast Hot Jobs Sep. 15

Hello fellow job seekers. Why yes, I am still unemployed. Here is the link to this week's North Coast Hot Jobs listing, http://www.scribd.com/doc/239752008/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-Sep-15-2014

So, let's start this week off with the latest unemployment rates by county in Washington state as of July 2014. First, this state's unemployment rate is at 5.4%. Here are some counties that are closest to us. More info at this link, https://fortress.wa.gov/esd/employmentdata/reports-publications/economic-reports/monthly-employment-report/map-of-county-unemployment-rates

     1) Clallam County is at 6.9%.
     2) Jefferson County is at 6.5%.
     3) Island County is at 5.9%
     4) Kitsap County is at 5.1%
     5) King County is at 4.9%
     6) Pierce County is at 5.9%
     7) Snohomish County is at 5.3%
     8) Grays Harbor County is at 8.2%

As you can tell, unemployment rates are continually going down. King, Kitsap and Snohomish counties are in need of manpower. I have noticed this also in the amount of available jobs being posted in those areas.

As the economy continues to get stronger, employers will be forced to pay their employees more to keep them or they will move on. This is the next step in the recession recovery.

That's all for this week. Have a good one.

North Coast Hot Jobs Sep. 8

Hello fellow job seekers. Here is the link to this week's North Coast Hot Jobs listing, http://www.scribd.com/doc/238973466/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-Sep-8-2014

The Lower Elwha Tribe has five new openings this week. To see these openings, go to this link, http://elwha.org/employmentopportunities.html. Then click on "For Lower Elwha Employment opportunities please click here." This is a link to their job listings. Select "Match Any Keywords" in the top right block and press "Search."

The local schools are wrapping up their hiring processes. If you want a job with one of these educational organizations, send in your application now.

Ok, that's it for this week. Don't forget to check out the "Job Hunting Tips" and "Weekly Featured Jobs" pages on the top right column.

North Coast Hot Jobs Sep. 1

Hello fellow job seekers. Here is the link to this week's North Coast Hot Jobs listing, http://www.scribd.com/doc/238261360/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-Sep-1-2014

Interesting to note how the Port Angeles Daily News currently lists 37 jobs and the Port Townsend Leaders has 40 jobs posted. Clallam County, at over 70,000 residents, has over twice as much residents compared to Port Townsend at about 30,000. Looking at this, someone could surmise that there are more jobs available in Jefferson County. This would be incorrect. If you look up the job listings posted at WorkSource, https://fortress.wa.gov/esd/worksource/Employment.aspx, for Clallam and Jefferson Counties, you will see that there are approximately 280 jobs posted in Clallam County and 60 some jobs posted in Jefferson County. So, many more jobs are posted at WorkSource in Clallam County versus Jefferson County. There can be many different conclusions about why this is this way. I will let you draw your own conclusions.

That's all for this week. Have a good one.

North Coast Hot Jobs Aug. 25

Hello job seekers. Here is the link to this week's North Coast Hot Jobs list,
http://www.scribd.com/doc/237625922/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-August-25-2014

Well, I am in the second week of unemployment. Also, I have a varied background that includes jobs in transportation, retail, restaurant, production, military and high tech. I have also attended school in the hope of bettering myself. For all these reasons, I can truly identify with many of you out there. I have been there, done that. I am not just someone trying to empathize with your situation. I have lived the life of struggle a few times.

The biggest player in hiring this week is the Olympic Medical Center based out of Port Angeles. They have twelve new job openings this week. They have an application that must be filled out and you can apply for multiple jobs at one time. Then you assemble any supporting documentation you have and email it to one email address at one time.... I will be applying here also.

Ok, that's it for this week. Don't forget to check out the "Job Hunting Tips" and "Weekly Featured Jobs" pages on the top right column.

Have a good one.

North Coast Hot Jobs Aug. 18

Hello job seekers. FYI, I have joined the ranks of the laid off. Well, enough about me, here is the link to this week's North Coast Hot Jobs listing that I take the time to assemble on my own free time, http://www.scribd.com/doc/237061984/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-August-18-2014

From now on, I will not post the jobs listed in the newspapers. There is just getting to be too much of them. However, I will post the links to them in the North Coast Hot Jobs listing. Some of you may have noticed a viewing charge on certain local newspapers. These links bypass that and go straight to the classifieds section associated with that newspaper.

The Quileute Tribe has entered another hiring phase. They have seven jobs available at this time.

Many schools in the area, including Peninsula College, are hiring faculty positions. The links are posted in the jobs listing.

Check out the "Job Hunting Tips" and "Weekly Featured Jobs" pages on the right column.

Have a good one.

North Coast Hot Jobs Aug. 11

Hello job seekers. Here is the link to this week's North Coast Hot Jobs listing, http://www.scribd.com/doc/236428932/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-August-11-2014

There have been three job openings with Clallam County that have been open for a long time. These are good paying jobs at $3,291 - $4,198 per month with benefits. They are Communications Officers (911 Dispatchers). They will be having testing for this soon in Port Angeles on August 25. If you are interested in this job, you have to first apply for the test at this link, www.publicsafetytesting.com. More info on this job is available here, http://wa-portangeles.civicplus.com/jobs.aspx and here, http://wa-portangeles.civicplus.com/Jobs.aspx?UniqueId=97&From=All&CommunityJobs=False&JobID=Communications-Officer-911-Dispatcher-10

Westport is definitely hiring again. If you were one of those that were laid off, I would suggest checking out their link that lists all their job openings, http://www.westportyachts.com/careers/

Check out the "Job Hunting Tips" and "Weekly Featured Jobs" pages on the right column.

Have a good one.

North Coast Hot Jobs Aug. 4

Hello job seekers. First off, let me repost how I use this weblog because it is free. However, it doesn't have the ability to post documents. So, I use Scribd to post the weekly North Coast Hot Jobs listing. So, without further ado, here is this week's link, http://www.scribd.com/doc/235754041/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-August-4-2014

Interfor has decided to shut down operations in the Beaver/Forks area and move those operations to the Port Angeles area. This is bad news for the West End of Clallam County. It will affect 87 employees. However, Interfor will apparently attempt to make room for these employees to be reassigned to the Port Angeles mill. This could result in some commuting for employees that wish to stay on the West End or they may just move to the Port Angeles area. This will affect the economy of the Forks area. More information is here, http://www.peninsuladailynews.com/article/20140801/NEWS/308019981/interfor-closes-its-beaver-forks-sawmill-planer-mill-operations

As a reminder, there are two more areas on this weblog site that I post information. Under the Pages heading in the right column are two pages labeled Job Hunting Tips and Weekly Featured Jobs. Click on them for more info I gather.

Have a good one.

North Coast Hot Jobs July 28

Hello fellow job seekers. Here is the link to the latest North Coast Hot Jobs listing, http://www.scribd.com/doc/235221196/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-July-28-2014

I don't usually post certain types of jobs, because there are just too many of them. In this area, there are many assisted living/retirement centers. As a result, there is a higher than normal demand for Certified Nursing Assistants. This type of work can be mentally and physically demanding. There are moments of increased activity and quiet. One salary source states that the salary for a CNA could be around $25,000 per year. See http://www.indeed.com/salary/q-CNA-l-Washington.html

Another job that shows up a lot are forestry type jobs. I guess that is pretty obvious. The state typically posts these forestry jobs at their careers.wa.gov website without closing dates. This seems to indicate that it takes a while to build up an acceptable pool of applicants to choose from. They usually require some sort of education in Forest Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science or a Natural Resources degree. You might have to go out of the area to get that education.

A third job category that appears many times in this area is Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Speech Therapists. Again, this type of education is not offered here. The pay is very good. Some salary examples are;
1. Physical Therapist - $91,000
2. Physical Therapist Assistant - $71,000
3. Occupational Therapist - $89,000
4. Occupational Therapist Assistant - $62,000
5. Speech Therapist - $85,000

Missed a federal job while compiling this jobs list. It is a Volunteer Program Assistant. It pays between $35,256 and $45,828. Here is the link, https://www.usajobs.gov/GetJob/ViewDetails/373440300  When making a federal resume, remember to be specific and more info is better. A federal resume of 4, 5, 6 or more pages is not uncommon.

Have a good one.

North Coast Hot Jobs July 21

Hello job seekers. Here is the link to this week's North Coast Hot Jobs listing, http://www.scribd.com/doc/234598461/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-July-21-2014

I hope everyone was able to handle the Sequim Lavender Festival traffic. I heard some complaints from locals about some of the tourist drivers. However, these same drivers bring their money to the area which helps keep some jobs here.

The Post Office has four job openings in this area. Two in Port Angeles, one in Joyce and the other in Forks. Remember, when you apply for a Post Office job, there usually is two parts. The first part is a simple online application process. The second part is a test somewhere along the I-5 corridor. The whole process could be a costly one and there is no guarantee that you will get a job with the Post Office.

Three full-time jobs available at the 7 Cedars Casino. Payroll Assistant, Surveillance Observer and Customer Service Officer. Just remember that smoking is allowed in the casino if you are thinking of applying for a job there.

Have a good one.

North Coast Hot Jobs July 14

Hello job seekers. Here is the link to this week's North Coast Hot Jobs listing, http://www.scribd.com/doc/233728707/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-July-14-2014

So, there is now seventeen state jobs open in this area. Six of these are DSHS jobs. They are Social Service Specialist jobs. If this is your specialty, then DSHS has openings in Port Townsend, Port Angeles and Forks. I believe one job closes on the 13th. (I actually post this jobs listing on Sunday night).

The schools in this area are looking to reload their faculty for the upcoming school year. If you are in or hope to be in the education field, now is the time to apply.

On a slightly different note, be aware that there are tourists and out of school teenagers on the roads at this time of the year. So, be extra careful on your commutes.

Have a good one.

The May 2014 Washington state unemployment rates show the state level at 6.1%. Clallam County is at 8.2%, Jefferson County is at 8.0%, Kitsap County is at 6.1%, Snohomish County is at 5.1% and King County is booming at 4.7%.

Here is an interesting article on the U.S. economy versus the rest of world, http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/making-us-economy-world-beater-factors-24435648

Four Social Service Specialist jobs are open in the area. Three in Clallam County and the other in Jefferson County. A bachelor's degree in a Social Service type category is required. More info at http://careers.wa.gov

Hello job seekers,

Here is the link to this week's North Coast Hot Jobs listing, http://www.scribd.com/doc/230836882/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-June-23-2014

So, I suppose the big news this past week is that Westport Shipyard was purchased by an investor based in Louisiana. More news on that at this link, http://www.peninsuladailynews.com/article/20140607/NEWS/306079966/westport-shipyard-sold-to-louisiana-investor-port-angeles-plant-to. So, possibly as a result, Westport has begun hiring again in this area. New jobs are listed from there at this link, http://www.westportyachts.com/careers The laminator jobs listed in the North Coast Hot Jobs listing as being in Port Angeles is wrong. Those two jobs are in Westport.

There's a problem right now at the Safeway Careers site, http://www.careersatsafeway.com/. It appears that all jobs that can be had for the Safeways on the north coast area are posted. For example, the Safeways in Port Angeles show 25 job openings, which I am sure is not true.

That's all for this week. Have a good one.

North Coast Hot Jobs June 16

Hello job seekers. Here is the link to this week's North Coast Hot Jobs listing, http://www.scribd.com/doc/229763224/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-June-16-2014

So here are some more thoughts on the phased in raising of the minimum wage in Seattle. It's possible this could have an effect on the cost of living. As a result of paying more for employees, products or services could cost more to compensate. This could create a mini-inflation of sorts in that area. This could encourage consumers to shop elsewhere outside of the Seattle area to get less expensive product or services.

Another effect could be realized by some individuals that currently make a couple of dollars or so over the minimum wage. For example, if someone currently makes $12 or $13 per hour, which is over the current minimum wage of $9.32/hr. then they could argue that they should be continue to get a couple of dollars or so over the minimum wage. As a result, someone who makes $12 currently, could demand that they receive $17 in the future. This could have a domino effect on other wage levels as well.

Washington state has four new jobs in the area and the federal government has added two this week. The hospital in Port Angeles has added six jobs. Out west the Quileute tribe as posted at least 19 jobs in 7 categories.

That's all for now. Have a good one.

North Coast Hot Jobs June 9

Hello job seekers. Here is the link to this week's North Coast Hot Jobs listing, http://www.scribd.com/doc/228692717/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-June-9-2014

This federal job was posted too late to make the jobs listing and expires on June 13. Education Technician with the National Park Service, https://www.usajobs.gov/GetJob/ViewDetails/371957100

So, it's official. Seattle has voted to raise the minimum wage in that city to $15/hr. This will be phased in over a few years. So, someone could be working for Subway in Seattle and pulling in $15/hr. Seattle's economy is booming. More information here, http://money.cnn.com/2014/06/03/smallbusiness/seattle-business-minimum-wage/ and http://www.nytimes.com/2014/06/03/us/seattle-approves-15-minimum-wage-setting-a-new-standard-for-big-cities.html?_r=0

North Coast Hot Jobs June 2

Hello job seekers. Here is this week's North Coast Hot Jobs listing, http://www.scribd.com/doc/227508548/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-June-2-2014

It looks like the weather is finally becoming pleasant. The forecast for this month calls for many clear, room temperature days. About normal for those of you that are new to the area.

The April 2014 unemployment rates by Washington State County are posted. Clallam County has 7.6% unemployment. Jefferson County is at 7.3%. Kitsap County (Bremerton area) has 5.5%. King County (Seattle area) is at an awesome 4.3% and Pierce County (Tacoma area) sits at 6.5%. More counties are listed here, https://fortress.wa.gov/esd/employmentdata/reports-publications/economic-reports/monthly-employment-report/map-of-county-unemployment-rates

The various school districts on the North Olympic Coast have begun to post their job openings for the upcoming school years. If you are a prospective teacher, now is the time to apply.

That's all for now. Have a good one.

North Coast Hot Jobs May 26

Hello all. I hope you had a pleasant Memorial Day weekend. Thank you if you took a moment to recognize, in your own way, the sacrifices made by those individuals whose service to our country was abruptly ended during a time of conflict.

Here is the link to this week's North Coast Hot Jobs listing, http://www.scribd.com/doc/226044079/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-May-26-2014

Not too many new job postings at organizational websites and the newspapers this week. I am not sure if that is related to the holiday weekend. I am sure it will rebound next week.

All government sites (federal, state, county and city) are relatively quiet this week. Nothing new.

The 7 Cedars Casino has 15 jobs opened at this time. However, only one of them is full-time.

That's all for this week. Have a good one.

North Coast Hot Jobs May 19

Ok, here is the link to this week's North Coast Hot Jobs listing, http://www.scribd.com/doc/224804012/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-May-19-2014

Job activity is fairly steady on the North Coast area. One business that has many new job openings is the 7 Cedars Casino. They have eight new jobs this week. However, they are only part-time. Employers do this so they don't have to pay benefits. Nonetheless, some organizations will award benefits to part-time employees.

The four area Safeway Stores have a total of eight jobs open at this moment. Manager openings also.

There are a total of sixteen Washington state jobs in this area. This includes the two that were added this week. These are usually good paying jobs with adequate benefits. It can be a good idea to apply for these jobs.

That's all for now. Have a good one.

North Coast Hot Jobs May 12

First of all, Happy Belated Mother's Day to all that applies to. Next, here is the link to this week's North Coast Hot Jobs, http://www.scribd.com/doc/223418135/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-May-12-2014. The reason why the jobs listing is posted on scribd, is because it is free. In addition, this blogsite, also free, does not have the capacity to post downloadable documents. So, I have to combine the use of two free services.

Seattle continues to move forward with it's plan to increase the minimum wage there to $15 per hour for all workers. This will take place over the course of three or seven years. More info here, http://blog.seattlepi.com/seattlepolitics/2014/05/01/murray-unveils-15-minimum-wage-plan-historic-moment-for-seattle/#22762101=0/. With the unemployment rate sitting at a very low 5.2% in King County, it is understandable that this is happening. When unemployment rates begin to get low, the available labor in the area gets shallower and employers become concerned about keeping their current employers as well as looking for more employers from other areas. As a result, pay goes up. If Seattle didn't take steps to attract employees, then employers might decide to move their businesses in areas where there is a larger available labor force. However, other businesses might move because the minimum wage is going up there. So, all this activity is happening because we are in the process of leaving an employer's market and entering an employee's market. At least in certain locations anyways. Not in Jefferson and Clallam counties.

We are having a surge of available state jobs in the area. Seven new state jobs have been added to the North Coast Hot Jobs listing. At this moment, there are twenty state jobs open in Clallam and Jefferson counties.

Have a good one.

North Coast Hot Jobs May 5

Hello Job Seekers and welcome to May. I always think of this song when May comes around, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JA1XAmzbnw&feature=kp. Without further ado here is the link to this week's North Coast Hot Jobs listing, http://www.scribd.com/doc/221916918/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-May-5-2014

For those of you in the Port Townsend area, the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce is now posting jobs at this link, http://jeffcountychamber.org/building-business/job-postings/.

The Quileute Tribe out at LaPush has eleven new openings. Some are seasonal, some are regular. See the hot jobs listing.

All regional newspapers continue to have many new job openings posted.

Have a good week.

North Coast Hot Jobs Apr 28

Hello job seekers. We are approaching the end of April. For some of you landscapers, April is the growing season and May is when the real work starts. April showers bring May flowers?  :-)  Anyways, here is the link to this week's North Coast Hot Jobs listing, http://www.scribd.com/doc/220571313/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-Apr-28-2014

The Post Office continues to post job openings. They have two this week. As I have stated before, they have an issue with the second part of their application process here. They want you to go to the I-5 corridor to take an exam. This exam takes about 4 - 6 hours. It is a group exam with separate components. Yes, I have taken this exam before. Between 7 to 10 years ago, the Post Office had a one-time deal where they had the exam in some large building in Sequim. There was a significant amount of applicants from here taking the test. Anyways, maybe someone should suggest to the Post Office that they do this again. This would supply them with a pool of applicants to draw upon when the need arises to hire someone. The Vern Burton center in Port Angeles could be a good location for this event, mainly because it is a center point between Port Townsend/Port Hadlock areas and the Pacific coast communities. Presently, it might be considered too much of a gamble for someone to spend about $100 bucks or more to go take this exam, possibly lose a day at work for a job that may not pan out.

Veterans Stand Down out at Forks on the 1st of May. Transportation is available. Contact WorkSource for more information.

That's all for this week. Have a good one.

North Coast Hot Jobs Apr. 21

Hello job seekers. Here is the link to the latest North Coast Hot Jobs listing, http://www.scribd.com/doc/219291800/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-Apr-21-2014

If you are an outdoors type, the Washington Conservation Corps is looking for a Crew Supervisor. $2,482.00 - $3,213.00 Monthly. This is a project duration job. This means it only lasts a certain time period.

The Olympic Medical Center continues to have a steady amount of available entry level and lower proficiency level jobs each week. Check out what they have available here, http:// www.olympicmedical.org/default.aspx?ID=16

Not too much activity in the newspapers online job wise. Just so you know, certain newspapers in the area are charging per online view now.

Have a good one.

North Coast Hot Jobs Apr. 14, 2014

Hello Job Seekers and welcome to Monday. First off, here is the link to this week's North Coast Hot Jobs listing, http://www.scribd.com/doc/217960903/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-Apr-14-2014

February's unemployment rates in this state have been posted. Clallam County is at 9.8% and Jefferson County is at 9.4%. In addition, Island County is at 8.3% and Kitsap County is at 7.1%. The best place to get work is along the I-5 corridor. For example, Snohomish County is at 6.0% and King County is at 5.2%.

There continues to be jobs listed for the Post Office in this region. However, the second part of the job application process takes place down the I-5 corridor. So, if you wish to apply for a Post Office job, then be prepared to dish out at least $100 bucks for gas, ferry and meals. This seems like quite an investment for a job that you may not even be considered for.

If you are a person with an education and/or experience in social work, the state has three openings in that field. Two in Port Townsend and a more advanced job opening in Port Angeles.

The Port Townsend paper mill has openings for Entry Level Extra Boards. This could be a good opportunity. Pay is $14.53/hour at first, then rises to $16.42/hour after the 60 day probation period.

I separated the medical/retirement listings.

That's all I have this week. Have a good one and good luck in the job hunting.

North Coast Hot Jobs Apr. 7, 2014

Hello job seekers. So, this is the first week of publishing the new North Coast Hot Jobs listing on Monday, instead of Friday. This gives me the weekend to work on it. So without further ado, here is the link http://www.scribd.com/doc/216656982/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-Apr-7-2014

The format has changed a little. The web address for the organization's job listing is displayed next to the organization's name in the job list. Also, instead of showing the whole hyperlink (which could be long), I just created a link in the words "Apply here" for each job.

Seven Materials Handler jobs in Port Hadlock at the Indian Island facility will be closing today, April 7th. These seven jobs are good paying jobs. If you are a vet with a security clearance still intact, you should apply ASAP. $18.83 to $23.47 / Per Hour.

The state has four new job openings this week. Three are at the Clallam Bay Correctional Facility. They are Classification Counselor, Safety Officer and Administrative Assistant.

North Coast Hot Jobs Mar. 28, 2014

http://www.scribd.com/doc/215064772/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-Mar-28-2014

Not too much new to report. The region's newspaper continue to list many new jobs.

A little advice. Be careful waiting for that perfect opportunity. Sometimes a job that is similar, but not exactly what you want, may be the job for you. When opportunity knocks....

Have a good one.

North Coast Hot Jobs Mar. 21

The Port Angeles School District has many new job openings of various kinds.

The newspapers continue to show many new job openings this week.

North Coast Hot Jobs Mar. 7

Hello everyone. As the nation recovers from the recession, it faces economic bumps in the road. These fits and starts are just a normal occurrence in the business cycle. There will always be ups and downs in an economy. This week, at sources other than WorkSource, there has been less new jobs available. On that note, here is the link to this week's North Coast Hot Jobs listing, http://www.scribd.com/doc/211239348/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-Mar-7-2014

Jefferson Healthcare has four new job openings. Three are full-time.

Petco continues to have seven job openings posted.

The area newspapers continue to post a good amount of new job openings, although less than the previous weeks.

Ok, that's all for this week. Don't forget to reset your clocks this weekend. Spring forward and Fall back.

Have a good one.

North Coast Hot Jobs Feb. 28

Welcome everyone. Here it is almost March and Spring is near. However, we might have one last gasp from Winter this weekend, so be careful driving. Ok, so much for preliminaries. Here is the link to this week's North Coast Hot Jobs listing, http://www.scribd.com/doc/209812799/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-Feb-28-2014

The State of Washington has five more job openings this week in this area. This makes a total of fourteen good paying jobs in Clallam and Jefferson Counties. Most of them are timber and fishing industry related, but there are some white collar openings also.

The area newspapers posted many new jobs this week. At least fourteen new jobs in the Peninsula Daily News and five more in the Port Townsend Leader.

The unemployment rates continue to decrease nationwide and locally. The following unemployment rates are courtesy of the Employment Security Department of Washington State and are the latest released statistics dated December 2013. In our corner of the country the unemployment rates are; Clallam County 8.6%, Jefferson County 8.4%, Kitsap County 6.1% and Island County 7.3%. Just for general purposes, the I-5 corridor continues to have the best unemployment rates such as King County (Seattle) 4.7% and Snohomish County (Everett area) 5.3%. So, this is a good indicator that the economy is slowly but surely growing.

Have a good one.

North Coast Hot Jobs Feb. 21

So, we will start off this week's post by showing the link to this week's North Coast Hot Jobs listing. Here it is, http://www.scribd.com/doc/208392313/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-Feb-21-2014.

Just so everyone knows, this North Coast Hot Jobs is not a profitable venture. I have to use a free Blogger site and a free Scribd account. It is pretty much a free community service to the public in this area.

The United States Postal Service continues to look for employees in this area. As of today, there are three postal job openings with two scheduled to close today.

The state continues to have natural resource type job openings available. Fishing and timber industry.

Many new jobs listed this week in the area newspapers. The Peninsula Daily News, The Sequim Gazette and the Port Townsend Leader.

Have a good one.

North Coast Hot Jobs Feb. 14

Happy Valentine's Day. Don't forget those special ones in your life.

So this week I will post the link to the North Coast Hot Jobs list at the beginning of this post instead of the end. Maybe this will be more convenient for everyone or at least most everyone. Here it is, http://www.scribd.com/doc/207094369/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-Feb-14-2014

The many temporary full time forest service jobs are closing today. These are good paying jobs even though they are only seasonal. Look under the Federal Government heading in the North coast Hot Jobs listing.

Four more state jobs opened this week. Most of them are related to the timber industry.

There seems to be many coaching vacancies at various school districts in the area.

The Red Lion Hotel in Port Angeles has posted it's seasonal job openings along with a few regular job openings.

The Quileute Tribe out at LaPush has posted four job openings.

The Port Angeles Daily News has the most new newspaper job openings listed compared to the Port Townsend Leader and the Sequim Gazette.

Have a good one and good luck with your job hunting.

North Coast Hot Jobs Feb. 7

As we enter February, the national jobless rates continue to decrease while employment steadily increases. While this growth could be considered slow by some, rapid growth in an economy is not desired, because this could lead to inflation. Slow, steady growth is the most desirable, but not the best for those of us that are unemployed or under-employed.

The many forest service temporary full-time opening job closing dates have been extended from Feb. 3 to Feb. 14.

Three post office jobs are open in the area. Remember, there are two tests normally for these types of jobs. One is online and can be reached anywhere there is internet access. The other has to be taken in a classroom setting. The closest test for us in this area is in the I-5 corridor, I believe. A big investment in time and gas money to take a test that you may not get a job for.

Safeway has two Second Assistant Manager openings in the area. One in Port Townsend and one in Port Angeles.

If a job that was posted in a newspaper is no longer listed, this does not necessarily mean the job is closed. It just means that it is no longer listed in the newspaper. The job may still be actually open, the employer just may not have run the ad long enough. Review last week's North Coast Hot Jobs listings under the "Newspaper Listed Jobs" heading.

Here is the link to this week's North Coast Hot Job listing, http://www.scribd.com/doc/205391722/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-Feb-7-2014

Have a good one and be careful driving with the freezing temperatures and the possible upcoming snowfall.

North Coast Hot Jobs Jan. 31

January is just about over. Some are filing their taxes now and some will get returns. These returns will be generally spent in the local areas which will result in a temporary boost in business.

As we are about to enter February, Clallam County unemployment rates are at 10.4% and Jefferson County unemployment rates are at 9.9%. Nearby counties such as Island County (9.1%) and Kitsap County (7.9%) have better showings.

In the North Coast Hot Jobs listing this week, there are numerous Park Service jobs open. These are mostly full-time temporary seasonal positions.

Three state jobs opened in the Jefferson County area. Two of those are with DSHS and the other is a Seasonal Park Aide. Jefferson Health Care has three new full-time openings.

Office Depot in Sequim has seven openings. PetCo has six openings there.

Four Para educator jobs have opened in the Sequim and Port Angeles school districts.

The Port Townsend Leader newspaper continues to show more job openings this week.

It appears that most of the new job activity is in Jefferson County.

This week's North Coast Hot Job listing is posted at this link, http://www.scribd.com/doc/203673520/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-Jan-31-2014

The Quileute Nation out at LaPush posted four new jobs. The salaries are fair to above average.

Many new jobs were posted this week in the Peninsula Daily News and at the Port Townsend Leader.

More info on these jobs can be found on the North Coast Hot Jobs listing for Jan. 24, 2013 which can be found here, http://www.scribd.com/doc/201968359/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-Jan-24-2014

Still not too much activity in the North Coast job listings yet. WorkSource Clallam is the focal point for the seasonal Aramark hiring. North Coast Hot Jobs Jan. 10, 2014

Job activity is slowly increasing here on the north coast. Slower than the rest of the nation. Nearby urban areas such as Seattle and Bremerton have more hiring going on.

Office Depot and Petco, both in Sequim, have many job openings. They both use online applications. It would be wise to have such documents as a resume, cover letter, list of references, transcripts, etc., available in electronic form. In other words, store these documents on a flash drive, your email or even an online storage service like Google Docs. As long as you can retrieve them when you need them to attach to an online application.

Many jobs are listed in the local newspapers this week. The internet links to those newspapers online are on the hot jobs listings. Here is this week's North Coast Hot Jobs list, http://www.scribd.com/doc/198486248/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-Jan-10-2014
