Hello job seekers. If you find any links that don't send you where they should, then let me know. Here is the link to this week's North Coast Hot Jobs, https://www.scribd.com/document/395824739/North-Coast-Hot-Jobs-Dec-17

So this windstorm hit us hard, 60 to 65 mph gusts. Some places are still without electricity. It was very slow going moving through Port Angeles last Friday when people were getting off work. Is our infrastructure and emergency services up to the task in case of a major emergency? Also, are we prepared as residents for a major emergency?

If you know of any Alaskan Native or Native American that has documented physical or mental disabilities (such as diabetes, anxiety, substance use disorder, etc.) and is having a hard time looking for work, ask them to contact me at 360-460-7549. We have two counselors that could help you find work.

Today, I would like to talk about business cycles. A business cycle is composed of four parts. There is the prosperity phase, recession phase, depression phase and recovery phase. We are in the prosperity phase. Unfortunately after the prosperity phase, always comes the recession phase. Several factors can cause the nation to go into a recession. The main factor is overvaluation. When items start to cost more than they are actually worth, then the bottom will fall out eventually.

The Post Office has been having issues with their website. They appear to now have fixed that. They have posted the jobs that were on hold. See the list on the North Coast Hot Jobs listing. Here is some more Post Office job info;

1. There are four entry level type jobs;
A. City Carrier Assistant. Starts out about $16-$17/hr. Not a permanent job until a spot opens up. Someone leaves or retires. Then you become a City Carrier.
B. Assistant Rural Carrier. Starts out about $17-$18/hr. Not a post service career job. Contracted work. Deliver in the outlying areas.
C. Sales and Distribution Associate. Starts out at about $16-$17/hr. Work in the back of the post office. Early start time and very busy. Some work the counter and have regular hours.
D. Custodian. About $14/hr. Veteran’s preference job.
2. You can take the test for each job at the Bremerton airfield. No more traveling to I-5 corridor to take a test for a job you may not get. Tests are free. Work on memorization skills if taking test for mail delivery.
3. New employees can expect to work six days a week. Some even work 7 days a week with the Amazon Sundaydelivery. Cry all the way to the bank.
4. Talk with an employee about the work attitude at that post office before applying. Some bad ones.
5. The federal government is always interested in hiring minorities.
6. If you don’t get the job you applied for, they know about you now and keep applying.
7. This can be a good career for someone who is willing to work when needed.

Just so everyone understands, I do this to help others find the best job available to them. It is another job resource to use for job seekers. I don't get paid for volunteering four hours of my weekend, every weekend, to create this job listing. If you appreciate this volunteer work that I have been doing for you for the last six years, then let me know. Contact me directly or through WorkSource Clallam.

There has been 80,000 page views of this website over the last six years. This equals about 13,000 per year and 37 per day.

Governor Inslee has recently declared some areas of Washington state as Opportunity Zones. These "Opportunity Zones" have to be experiencing high poverty levels and low family income in the area. Supposedly this designation is supposed to encourage investment into the area by businesses. Most of Clallam and Jefferson counties are affected, including nearly all tribal areas. Here is info on this, https://content.govdelivery.com/accounts/WADOC/bulletins/1eaeb2b. Maps showing these areas are here, http://www.commerce.wa.gov/growing-the-economy/opportunity-zones/

So, here we are in a new year. If you are out of work, now is the time to take another look at that resume to see if it needs sprucing up. Also practicing answers for possible interview questions is helpful.
