So the federal government still has not passed a budget. A lot of finger-pointing, but nothing really getting done. As a result, funding for various federal agencies has been halted. Some federal employees are working without wages. Federal funding in this area can or could affect the Olympic National Park and Forest, Tribal Nations, The Coast Guard and grant recipients. Minimum wage increases in Washington State on January 1st from $11.50/hr to $12/hr. Every bit helps when you are struggling.

So this windstorm hit us hard, 60 to 65 mph gusts. Some places are still without electricity. It was very slow going moving through Port Angeles last Friday when people were getting off work. Is our infrastructure and emergency services up to the task in case of a major emergency? Also, are we prepared as residents for a major emergency?
