The long term unemployment rate is a percentage of all unemployed people who have been unemployed longer than 27 weeks. As of Nov. 2021, that rate is 32.1% of everyone that is unemployed has been unemployed longer than 27 weeks. If you have ever wondered why some big companies that you apply for ask you if you are on TANF or if you have been unemployed for a while or if they are a veteran, it is usually because of the Work Opportunity Tax Credit.
